Escape Room Games in Maryland

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can play?

The puzzles and codes in our game rooms are geared for ages 14 and older. Minors must have a paying chaperone present at all times.

How many people can play?

There is no minimum number of players required, although we suggest at least two players per room. The maximum number of players that each room can accommodate varies. See our Game Rooms page for details.

What do I need to play?

Everything you need to solve the puzzles is in the room. You do not need to have any special skills or knowledge to play. Just be creative and curious!

Are we really locked in the room?

There are locked doors players need to get through to solve the puzzles, but exits are always available. Each room also has a monitoring camera for safety.

Are the rooms scary and hard to escape?

The rooms have a theme to build suspense (see our GAME ROOMS page for descriptions), but there are no hidden, costumed actors or spooky decorations. The puzzles are challenging but not impossible. If your group is having trouble, we will give you a clue to help. After your challenge, you will have the opportunity to discuss your game experience with our staff. We value your feedback!

Do I need to fill all available spaces for the room?

No. Purchase the number of tickets you need for your group, but we will sell other tickets to fill the room so you may be teamed with people you do not know. If you ONLY want your group in the room, find a date and time with that number of spots available and purchase the entire block of tickets. Note: If your number of players exceeds the room capacity, you can split the group into two teams and race to see which set of brains escapes first. We can add 1 or 2 extra seats to some rooms. Can I pay at the door?

It is always better to book/pay in advance to guarantee you have the room and time you want to play available. If you drop in and we happen to have an opening, you can pay for ticket(s) via our website booking link on a smartphone or other device. Limited cash transactions are also an option.

What if I am late for my game session?

Great Escapes Harford games run on a tight schedule, so the door to the room closes EXACTLY at the time you signed up for and the game starts as scheduled. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your session. If you arrive late, you can still play but you will have less time to solve the mystery.
